I have been looking recently at getting back to my roots a little bit. I was a photographer by trade, and I have been since college, but with the birth of my kiddos, I haven’t been doing as much. (Other then those baby pictures of course!) So, I thought I would share some of my own images with your guys from a little while back.
I admittedly don’t have a lot of experience with SHOOTING pinups; I have only shot a few myself. I have been modeling like crazy, but I definitely have felt the urge to get back to my first love. In this particular case here, I found that when I do organize a photoshoot, I like to have my hand in every part!
The images I have here are part of large scale shoot. I had this concept for Vintage Disney Princesses, so my mother and sister-in-law and I all headed down to vintage shop in Columbus, Ohio to look at dresses. Low and behold, we came back with way more then we anticipated we would! It was to the point where while we were shopping, my sister was calling her friends, trying to fill dresses!
I literally had my hand in every part of the styling for this shoot. My sister in law found the models for me, and I called up a couple of stylist friends and started out with what I wanted out of hair and makeup for each princess. My mother-in-law even whipped up little costumes for our young girls so they could play dress up too!
I did this set before I really had a handle on how publications work, or what I was aiming for as far as a pinup career. I did it because I loved the styling, and it was fun. I LOVED shooting these images, and trying to work with my friends and family to bring these characters we all loved to life.
Now that I have become a little more goal-oriented, I would love to add to this series, and work a little harder on the concepts I still have floating around in my noggin. (Disney Villains and a larger scale Horror movie Pinups come to mind!)
Hope you enjoyed peeking back into this little blast from the past!
